Replacement stainless steel shear beam load cells matched to the failed cells on a frozen food washdown platform scale, verified by nameplate data, mounting dimensions and wiring before supply.
Matching stainless steel shear beam load cells were supplied to replace failed cells under a platform scale on a washdown line. The customer could not stop production for a long survey, so the replacement was prepared from photos and nameplate data before the cells were ordered, and the set was checked again against the confirmed details before dispatch.
Because the new cells matched the capacity, mounting dimensions, cable entry and wiring of the originals, the scale was back in service without modification to the platform or the junction box. Verification rested on comparing the old cells’ nameplate data and installation dimensions with the proposed replacement, and on the customer confirming stable readings once the scale was running again.

Customer Type and Problem Type
- Customer Type
- Repair & Maintenance
Companies whose own business is installing, repairing and servicing weighing equipment for their customers.
- Problem Type
- Replacement Part
Cases for one part - a load cell, indicator, junction box or cable - that has to fit equipment already in service.
Project Context
The customer runs a frozen food line with a washdown platform scale. Several shear beam load cells under the platform had failed and were giving unstable readings, so the scale needed replacements that matched the existing cells in rating, size and wiring before the line could run normally again.
Work Process
We started from what the customer could send: photos of the fitted cells and their nameplates, the rated capacity and the mounting dimensions. From those we proposed a stainless steel shear beam cell with the same capacity, hole spacing, cable entry and output, and asked the customer to confirm cable length and wiring before dispatch. The cells were then supplied as one matched set for their maintenance team to fit.
Responsibility Split
Novoweigh sourced the cells, checked the specification against the customer's photos and nameplate data, and supplied them as a matched set. The installation partner removed the failed cells and refitted the replacements. The customer's maintenance team isolated the scale, provided the as-built details and confirmed the readings after the work.
Delivered Items
-
NW-LC-SB Shear Beam Load Cell
NW-LC-SB shear beam cell, rated capacity 500 kg, stainless steel body, IP67, rear cable entry with gland, output matched across the set to suit the existing junction box wiring
Quantity 4, supplied as one matched set
Verification
Before ordering we compared the nameplate data on the failed cells (model, rated capacity, output and wiring) with the proposed replacement, and checked installation dimensions and hole spacing against photos of the installed cells. Cable entry type, gland thread and conductor count were confirmed so the existing cable runs and junction box could be reused, and the set was checked again against the confirmed details immediately before dispatch.
Results
All four cells fitted the existing mounts without modification and the platform scale returned to service with stable readings. Because the set was supplied matched, no individual trimming was needed at the junction box.
Limitations
Demo example; the result described depends on the actual product supplied and on the conditions at the site, and the same checks of nameplate data, dimensions and wiring have to be repeated for each replacement enquiry.
