Food & Beverage

Food and beverage plants weigh ingredients, portions and packed product in areas that are cleaned, chilled or wet.

In food and beverage production, weighing sits at several points in the same plant: ingredient batching and dosing, portion control before packing, checking the weight of packed product on the line, and weighing pallets, drums or incoming raw material. The weight ranges differ widely between those points, so equipment is normally selected per station rather than as one plant-wide standard.

The area a station sits in usually decides more than the product does: whether it is hosed or wiped down, whether it is a chilled room with condensation, whether the cleaning routine uses chemicals, and how quickly changeover between products has to happen. Materials, sealing, cable entry and the way the unit is mounted all follow from those conditions.

Product handling matters too. Sticky, frozen or irregular product behaves differently on a conveyor than on a platform, and detection or checkweighing performance is verified with actual product samples at the real line speed. If the plant has hygiene, allergen or documentation requirements, those come from your side and have to be confirmed for the exact configuration.

Before ordering, describe the station rather than the plant: what is weighed or checked there, the weight range and the tolerance that has to be held, the pack or container, the cleaning routine, the ambient temperature, and who signs the result off. That is what allows a configuration to be proposed that can actually be verified on site.

Primary task

Weigh or check product at a defined station in a plant that is cleaned, chilled or wet, and agree what has to be verified there.

Questions to answer

  • What is weighed at this station - ingredients, portions, packed product, or incoming material?
  • What are the weight range and the tolerance that has to be held?
  • How is the area cleaned - water, chemicals, or a chilled environment with condensation?
  • Is the weighing point on a line or on a stand, and who owns the surrounding equipment?
  • Which hygiene, allergen or documentation requirements come from your side?

Next action

Open the food and beverage product categories or the packaging project case, then send the station details through the enquiry form.

Replacement Load Cells for a Frozen Food Line

Replacement stainless steel shear beam load cells matched to the failed cells on a frozen food washdown platform scale, verified by nameplate data, mounting dimensions and wiring before supply.
