In a washdown area the load cell has to survive water, cleaning agents and temperature change, so the enclosure and the material are the first things to look at. A sealed stainless steel cell is the usual starting point, and the cleaning routine decides how far the sealing has to go.
Rating alone is not compatibility. The cable entry and the gland are the most common weak points: a cell can be sealed and still fail because the cable is routed through a low gland where water collects. Mounting also matters – a cell that is right electrically can still be the wrong shape, thread or bolt spacing for the platform it has to replace.
Work through four items before ordering: rated capacity, physical dimensions and mounting centres, output or sensitivity, and the connector or number of cores with their colours. If the replacement must work with an existing junction box or indicator, that completes the picture, because the signal circuit is verified as a whole.
Where cleaning is aggressive, or where the product area has its own hygiene requirements, confirm those requirements for the exact configuration rather than relying on a category label. Where the part cannot be identified, the nameplate and photos are where verification starts.
