Dusty
Dust, powder or particles are present in normal operation. The instrument, junction boxes and cable entries are usually the first places dust causes trouble, and how the area is cleaned decides the rest.
Dust rarely stops a scale on the first day; it works its way in. Fine powder settles on the deck, in the gap around the load cells, inside the junction box and along the cable glands, and over months it changes friction, insulates contacts and blocks the paths that water or cleaning air would use. How dusty the air is, and how often the area is cleaned, matter more than the nominal capacity of the scale.
Material left on the platform is part of the weighing problem, not only housekeeping. A layer of product on a deck, frame or hopper appears in the reading, so cleaning between batches is often a measurement step as much as a hygiene one. Powder that builds up in corners, under the deck and behind ramps is the part that is easy to miss, so it is worth deciding in advance who clears it and how often.
The cleaning method sets the sealing direction. Brushing or vacuuming asks mainly that dust cannot reach load cells and terminals; blowing with compressed air pushes dust further in unless entries and breathing points are placed to let it out; hosing or foam brings the question back to sealing and drain paths. Whichever method is used, gland entries, covers and their fixings are the details that decide whether dust stays out, and they belong in the specification from the start rather than being added later.
Choosing this condition only means that candidate products exist for dusty areas. Sealing arrangement, deck and frame design, cable entry type, indicator placing and the maintenance interval still have to be confirmed for the configuration you order, together with any protection requirement from your local rules. A condition tag is not a statement that a product is suited to your dust or to your cleaning routine.

- What kind of dust or powder is present, and does it settle, float or stick to surfaces?
- How is the area cleaned — brushed, vacuumed, blown with compressed air or hosed — and how often?
- Where can dust collect that an operator would not normally clear, such as under the deck or behind the frame?
- How much residue on a surface would show up in the reading if it were not cleaned between batches?
- What protection or hygiene requirement does your site apply in this area, and which local rules govern it?
