Packaging Equipment

In-line equipment for packed product - metal detection, checkweighing, reject and conveying - sourced to fit an existing packing line.

This category covers the equipment that inspects packed product on the line rather than weighing a bulk load: metal detectors, checkweighers, reject devices and the conveyor sections that carry packs through them. A unit can be added to an existing line or specified with the line, and more than one inspection step can be combined in the same run.

What decides the fit is the line, not the machine alone: pack size and weight range, belt width, the speed the line runs at, where the reject sits and what happens to a rejected pack, and which signals the line’s controls expect. The space, height and guarding available on the line, and who builds the surrounding conveyor, are agreed with the line builder or integrator.

Before ordering, be clear about the purpose of the step and how it will be verified: which defect or weight tolerance has to be detected, with which product samples, at which speed, and who signs the result off. Cleaning routine, water exposure and hygiene requirements come from the product area and have to be confirmed for the exact configuration rather than assumed from the category.

Line equipment is usually delivered as one section to be integrated, so the configuration, the interfaces and the conditions under which the stated performance applies are recorded with the order, and the line builder keeps ownership of the surrounding conveyor, guarding and line acceptance.

Primary task

Choose the inspection equipment that fits an existing packing line and agree what has to be defined with the line builder before ordering.

Questions to answer

  • What has to be detected or verified on the line - metal, weight tolerance, or both?
  • What are the pack size, pack weight range, belt width and line speed?
  • Who owns the surrounding conveyor, guarding, reject handling and line acceptance?
  • How will the result be verified before sign-off, and with which product samples?
  • What are the cleaning routine and the conditions where the unit will sit?

Next action

Open the packaging-line product pages or read the packaging project case, then send the pack and line details through the enquiry form.
